What does this procedure offer?
Through this process, citizens can present inquires, exercise their rights and submit claims regarding data protection, electronically and with all the guarantees of an electronic record.
The Electronic Registry is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Once the document, application or communication in question has been submitted, its presentation at any other registry office is not necessary.
The Electronic Registry will function for the purpose of calculating time periods, by the official date and time of the electronic access headquarters.
To which body are the actions taken through this procedure presented?The Data Protection Delegate of the INE (DPD) is responsible for responding to citizens¿ inquiries and requests for rights and claims regarding personal data protection.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides that those responsible for processing should designate a DPD in the cases established by the GDPR, as well as in other cases where it is considered mandatory by the legislation of the Member States.
Among the cases in which a DPD will be designated is when the "processing is carried out by a public authority or body," as both the person in charge and as the person in charge of processing (art. 37.1.a GDPR).
What kind of actions can be carried out through this procedure in the electronic headquarters?Consultation with the DPD
The DPD will answer any questions raised by citizens in which their personal data is affected by any processing for which the INE is responsible or in charge.
Inquiries will be answered in order of their entry in the electronic register.
Exercise of rights and claims with the DPD
The DPD will assist citizens in the exercise of the rights recognized in the GDPR.
For its part, the DPD will respond, within a maximum period of two months, to the claims filed by citizens regarding data protection.
